Hi, guys:

I have this question for you.

If I have a Diabetic patient in home care for a wound care and the nurse does not take the patient's blood sugar levels (MD did not specify in his order anything related to blood sugar levels via glucometer), is a bad thing? I always think that is a best practice to monitor BS or to record BS levels from patient's glucometer due to the relationship between glycemia and wound healing.

Thank you in advance,

Yudit Fernandez Galan, RN.

Hiya,  In a Nutshell, I think that if there is anything that is being done is not correct, then it needs to be changed.. Remember if there is a law suit, they will ask you, did you know better? Also, sometimes you need to educate the Dr.  That's Ok, it will be best for both of  you and of course, the patient...Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted..Teresa
