Foreign Grads Discrimination

Posted 11 months ago It really "SEEM" like California Board of Nursing is discriminating the foreign grads. I mean it just doesn't make sense that all the sudden they're making everyone retake some classes again. I mean its not fair for those who already are finished and graduated many years back. This shenanigan is very costly and most schools out there will not catered to this situation. If they make these changes, they should only make this apply to the latest graduates only or whatever. I mean allforeign grads can learn this "missing" incomplete subjects thru work and training. There is no need to retake these subjects.

| Posted 11 months ago Hello Teresa im kind of new here, and it seems you have helped a lot with the info that you know. "2. That your nursing clinical rotation schedule AND clinical cases be complete *per* skill type." You mentioned this in one of your replies. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!? It would mean a lot if you could help me out! thank you.
P.S IT REALLY SUCKS WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING IN CALIFORNIA! |

| Posted 11 months ago I think that CA BON has all the right to change their requirements However, this is my situation.. I have already been given the eligibility, att, I already took the NCLEX once, I just reapplied for a RE-exam and I am being asked for my clinical logs/RLE. I feel like hey, I've already passed all the requirements, I'm just applyung for a re-examination, why ask for me for these? But that's just me. Still. They have the right to do whatever they want to do.

| Posted 11 months ago Hiya, I think that their new rules must apply to all foreign nurses whether or not they have taken the exam... Best of luck to you... Teresa |

| Posted 11 months ago to 2nd: The board did the exact same thing to me. I took the exam and didnt pass so i reapply again.. They send me a mail asking for my RLE documents in which i was confused coz they should already had that in their records. Anyway, i submit my RLE again and then they reply back to me, asking me to retake my med surg class coz some aspects in theories were not met..
I have a feeling that is the next response you're gonna get. I am pretty sure its going to be like that. I hope you dont need to retake OB coz most people have to retake that too.. Im glad I just need to retake my Med Surg 2. which is Advance Nursing.
Unfortunately, foreign grads are not the first priority. Their first priority are the graduates here in America. I just hope they find a solution to this and most importantly provide a school or place for us to go to to retake these subjects. Most schools would not accept outside students. |

| Posted 11 months ago Ikonen, This is also what I'm scared of, but what would most likely happen =( I have never heard of anyone being asked for this info and had an approval to re-exam. I'm so depressed right now. I just posted a new thread asking if there's anyone who had an approval after satisfying this requirement. I thought you might be interested. I'll be sending you an email. Thanks. |
