The nurse is caring for a client with a chest tube.  Which of the following observation requires an immediate intervention by the nurse?


1. The suction regulator is setr at 100 mm HG


2. Drainage in the collection chamber is greater than 100 ml/hr


3. Constant bubbling in the suction control chamber


4. Tidaling in the water seal chamber


Answer is 2. 


Excessive amounts of drainage should be reported to the MD
