Posted 10 months ago Hiya, That is a great question and one that is asked pretty freq...So, in my opinion, (mine), knowing how the LPN's are being phased out, I'd go for the CMA.. To be honest with you, they do about the same things only in a Dr.s office or clinic.. However, If you plan or wanted to eventually become a RN, then I would go for the LPN and then bridge over.. In ever case, I'd like to wish you the very best of luck in all of your future endeavors... Please keep us posted. Teresa

Posted 10 months ago Hiya.... No, a CMA is a Certified Medical Assistant.s.. They do various nursing tasks under the guide of a physician...They work front and back office in a Dr.s office or medical clinic.. They can do from answering phones to giving injections to doing some labs in a clinic. CNA's are a Certified Nursing Assistants.. They give patient care and all of the ADL's needed for patients mostly in the nursing home and in home health situations.. I'm sure there are other places that they work and that they do many other things, but that's the gest of the 2 different positions. I do believe that CMA's make more money per hour also... Teresa

Posted 10 months ago Hiya, You know, that is the awesome thing about the medical career.. There is no limit on what you can learn or what you can do.. Separately or at the same time.. I myself, worked Trauma and at the same time taught...There is no rule and you can do what ever is great for you at the time... Best of luck..Teresa

. Thank you Teresa for your response. I don't think CMA is right for me. With the little research I've done, LPNs are in no way being phased out.(where i live) Even so, I'd like to gain more info on LN before I make the BIG SWITH to RN. So with that in mind...LPN is the path that I'm choosing. Who knows, later I might consider that bridge program.
