Posted 10 months ago I have a record with 2 convictions from 11/12 years ago. I was granted my LPN degree by the state of PA. after the convictions. I had a job for several years then one day I was asked if I knew about the convictions. I said "yes, it's on my record check and I told the DON about them at my interview". Then, afew weeks later I went over her head to the medical director on a certain matter and from then on she rode my tail on everything. Then, she made accusations that I withheld medications from patients. there was an investigation, I was fond not to be a perpetrator in the incident by the Area Agency on Aging, the Dept. of State Board of Nursing, and at my request a polygraph, with "No deception indicated" as the results. Now I have been looking for a job for 2 years now. I don't lie about my past, I do have several letters of recomendation and a flexable schedule. NO one will hire me, or tell me why not. I am an excelent nurse nd have alot of experience. I did learn alot as far as trying to get along with co-workers. Does anyone have any advise as to how I might find a nursing job even though I have a record. HELP, THANK YOU. |

| Posted 10 months ago Hiya, I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties.. The only thing that I can think of is, if you are listing your past employer as a reference, they may be giving the information of you going above the DON's head.. I don't like to advise anyone to be dishonest, but you may have to fudge your resume on this.... Also, have you tried to get your record expunged? Just a thought.... Best of luck and please keep us posted.... Teresa |

| Posted 10 months ago I have looked into an expungement, however from what an attorney told me, I don't qualify for an expungement in PA. possibly a pardon. I am looking into that now. |

| Posted 9 months ago Teresa, I would not "Fudge" my reseme for the simple fact that I'm not lying about the reason I was dismissed from my job. things will catch up to you no matter how hard you try to cover them up. As far as going over my DON's head on a certain matter and questioning her on others, well all I can say is that my residents well being and my license mean more to me than trying to hide mistakes. I appreciate the advise, however I'm not real comfortable with it. TY. |
