I applied to go to a nursing school- which requires a background check.... makes sense! Anyways 8 years ago in NY I was charged with an assualt. It was dropped and I plead guilty to child endangerment charges (as my children were home during the occurence)... I am sure this is going to disqualify me???? I am not on a child abuse registery or anything but is this going to make it difficult for me?

my ex husband was abusive and I hit him back out of self defense to get him off of me.... that is where the assualt came from, but ended up being dropped and I just pled guilty to child endangerment instead..

Thank you. I am really hoping they let me explain. When they asked for all my addresses in the past 7 years I gave to them... so I wonder if they only go back 7 years? IDK

When you applied, did you disclose that information?   Teresa

No I did not. I had thought it was sealed as I have not ever had it come up at any job I have applied for in the past. The only reason I know it is not sealed is b/c I called the court house to get information on the charge etc. I am re-married and my husband actually asked me if it was going to cause a problem for me getting into the shcool, otherwise I wouldn't haave even given it any thought.

Hiya, So it is still on your record..But if they say it only goes back 7 years, well then you may be safe.. Be careful, I don't advise with holding if asked... Best of luck to you..Please keep us posted..Teresa
