I live in Florida, btw..I am currently attending school, this is my last semester I need to get my AA including the prerequisites (my understanding I will have an ADN..?)required to get into 2 yr Nursing school to become RN w/ bachelor's..I was given poor direction from the counselor's so I am very confused on what I'm doing/best way to go.My question is, how can I become an LPN after aquiring this ADN degree?I will continue to go to school but I would like to be an LPN first. Please help give me direction?Am I doing the correct steps? Any information you feel would be helpful to my situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time:)

Hiya,

Well in my opinion. if you are taking prereq's then those will be applied to your RN.. As far as I know you won't need them for your LPN..So here's my opinion.....LPN school will take about 1 1/2 years - 2 years.. After that you can bridge to your RN along w/ your bachelors..Or. you can use those prereq's and the same 2 years and go in for your RN  ADN.. After that you can go back and get your Bachelors.. And at the same time you can work as an RN..

( Don;t take this wrong to anyone reading this . But, LPN's are being phased out..I don't know how long that will take but I am sure it will happen..) So I think that the obvious is the path to take..It will in the end be less time and less money..

There is nothing wrong with getting a 2nd opinion for another counselor..

So Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted..

Teresa

BTW, Where in Fla., are you? I'm in Clearwater...

Thanks for your response. I live in Melbourne. I talked to a nurse yesterday, and she told me not to become an LPN. So I don't think I will. Also, I just learned that I can be an RN with my ADN. I thought I had to have a bachelor's for that. I just don't understand though because I had no classes that trained me to start an IV or prepare me for my job responsibilities in the hospital..?

When you get into RN school, you will have the opportunity to learn.. If you are not happy with the results, You can always take a class on IV/Phlebotomy skills... Best of luck to you..Please keep us posted..Teresa

Melborne is not far from Clearwater.. What a small world..
