Posted 9 months ago I have an aggrated battery charge on my record. However I was given 2yrs probation and has never been to prison. This took place in 1998. Is there an possibilty for me to become and Register Nurse? I was once an CNA that wishes to become an Register Nurse. But my background seems to be hindering my dream of doing what I love to do and that is to helping the sick. |

| Posted 9 months ago Regina, that was 24 years ago... Have you checked your record lately.. Usually they only go back 7 years..You may need to obtain an attorney and get it expunged if able to.. You said your background has been hindering your dream.. Can you explain that... Best of luck to you.. Hoping to hear from you..Teresa |

| Posted 9 months ago I have been searching the internet and have came across lots of disappointed views. As long as I have an violent record. I will never become an Register Nurse. Even if I were to get an expungement or an pardon. The BON will still ask have I ever been convicted of a crime/felon. There is no way around it because I will have to answer yes, even with a pardon/expungement. They will still be able to find out, so I've heard because its all Governmental. I feel that if a person has paid their debt to society and have truly turned their life around. They should be given an second chance and not be branded for the rest of their life. The laws contradicts itself in the majority of most States. The law says that your criminal back ground should not be check passed 7-10 yrs from the date you applied for employement. However there are not laws to protect/help people as myself to stop employers from doing so or for the companies that runs crinimal back ground check for employers. I sometimes feel that this is an act of being Legally discriminated. This is cast upon people whom has an crinimal back ground and this needs to stop. People have families to take care of and goals to meet. Thanks for the best of luck wishes. I'm gonna need it. |

| Posted 9 months ago Regina, Have you called the BON? They may ask you for an explanation and go with that. And no, with an expungement or a pardon, the slate is wiped clean..It can only then be opened for another felony offense..Check into it before you give up....If this i doesn't work, then there is something out there that is so very special for you to do... Don't limit yourself...I'll be praying for you.. Best of luck to you, Hugs, Teresa Please keep us posted.... |
