 Hi all,

My apologies if these questions have been answered already elsewhere but I just wanted to clarify a few things with regards the NCLEX. I'm currently working as a nurse in Dublin, Ireland having gained my registration here last year and I'm considering taking the NCLEX for the D.C. nursing board.

Basically, I'm enquiring as to the best way to go about this. I've looked on a number of different sites and from what I can tell I need to have my qualification verified by CGFNS, I need to register with the company that run the test (Pearsonvue, I think) and I need to have Authorization To Test before I can apply to take the NCLEX. I'm sure there's things I've missed so I wonder if anyone could clarify what else I'd need to do and what order it's best to do these things in, essentially, what should my first step be?

I hope that makes some sense and I'd really appreciate any advice anyone might have.

With thanks,

John.

Hiya John,  Since you need to register with the agency, Why not ask them and the DCBON directly... I usually go right to the source and try to avoid the "I thinks..."   Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted.. Teresa

BTW, Welcome to NL...

 Thanks Teresa,

Yeah I suppose the first step is to register with the agency and take it from there, just thought I'd see if anyone had any similar experience.

The advice is much appreciated and I'll keep you posted (and I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get things moving).

Hi John,

I recieved my RN in England and also had to go through CGFNS. I am going through Maryland, and they accepted my transcripts without me having to take any additional courses. Once I paid for my application fee, from the b.n. they sent out a packet with various paperwork and further steps to take (such as finger prints for back ground checks). Once CGFNS sends them your transcript evaluation and your application with all the various steps have been completed, they will send out an authorization to test. You've researched the steps and  seem well informed, Im sure you will do great  Best wishes John, Please keep us posted.
