   October 15, 2012  |  10–11 AM ET

Join us on Monday, October 15, at 10 AM ET, for a Webinar honoring one exemplary hospital that has achieved sustainable improvements based on the concepts of the “National Action Plan to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections: Roadmap to Elimination” and is helping to achieve the goals outlined through the HHS Partnership for Patients. The award is co-sponsored by HHS, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).

Every day, approximately 1 in every 20 patients has an infection related to his or her hospital care. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are infections that people acquire in a healthcare setting while they are receiving treatment for other conditions. HAIs can be acquired anywhere that healthcare is delivered. Healthy People 2020 has two objectives focused on HAI reduction.

This Webinar will feature:

Dr. Howard Koh, Assistant Secretary for Health, HHS

Dr. Don Wright, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health, HHS

Dr. Paul McGann, Co-Director, Partnership for Patients

Michelle Farber, RN, CIC, President, APIC

Dr. Jan Evans Patterson, President, SHEA
