 Nurse Contraptions: Fluting Iron


Fluting irons were designed to crimp, ruffle and press pleats into starched fabric. This particular type of iron was designed by J.E. Hipp in 1973 and enabled the School of Nursing Alumni Association to abandon the use of alcohol lamps and irons to flute their caps.
