Hypodermic Syringes CC, ML, Units
Smallest capacity syringe 2,2 21/2,3mL mostly used for SQ and IM
Largest capacity Syringe 5,6,10 and 12 mL to draw blood or prepare meds for IVs
Syringes 20mL or larger Use to inject larger volume of sterile solutions
Lenght of the needle for medication administration range from 3/8 inch to 2 inches
The Gauge of the needle The thickness of the needle from 18 to 28 - The larges the number the thinner the needle
Insulin Injections /Syringes SQ injections only , Calibrated on Units rather than mL. Thee capacities of syringe; 100u - 2 unit increments, Lo-dose 50 unit-1 unit increment, 30 unit- 1 unit increment, plunger is flat.
