An Order to a pharmacist, written by a Licensed medical practitioner to Prepare, Compund, and Dispense, to Affix directions, and to Sell the preparation to the client
Prescription Legal Legally Recognized Document and the writer is held responsible for it's accuracy
Prescription Dr. Info Should have Name, Address, Telephone Number, and Office Hours of Dr. prescribing the medication
Prescription Refills Space for Number of Refills and the practitioner's DEA (drug enforcement administration) registration number should be provided
Prescription Client Info The Client and Animal Names should be written in ink and a copy should be kept on file in the record, protects Dr. and part of medical history
Prescription Rules Should be written simply as possible and consist of a minimu number of drugs, Uses the Metric System and Abbreviations
Prescription Veterinary Must say For Veterinary Use Only
Superscription Rx - Latin for Recipe which means take, and x is a blessing
Inscription Lists the Names and Amounts of Drugs to be Incorporated in the Prescription. Includes the Basis, Vehicle, Adjuvant, and Corrective if needed
Subscription Instructions to the pharmacist which may be in Englis or Latin Abbreviations
The Signa (Sig:) or Transcription Instructions for Administration of the Medication which the pharmacist is to write on the label |
