New, but no spring chicken

So I too am disgusted with my new position.  I have been a nurse 25 years but I started a new position.  It has been so unsatisfying and demoralizing.  What happened to the voice of nurses.  Why is an anesthesiologist deciding whether I am doing my job right or not?  Why is my new boss intimidated by our unit secretary.  Seriously, I have been told not to call them if I need help (ie calling engineering if the OR suite is too hot)  because they are busy!  Tearing apart my paperwork, talking behind my back.  I am dancing as fast as I can and there is just no commaraderie whatsoever.  I shudder to think of what was taught to me in nursing school, professionalism, nursing diagnosis, care plans, I can't possibly even consider any of this, I am too busy stocking the anesthesia carts and mopping the floor after a bad femur case.  Its bullshit!

I know. There are some pretty extreme situations out there. I really feel for you. Don't know that I can offer much advice, other than, there are just times when we pick and choose our battles. And when my battle became more than I wanted to fight, I changed positions....
