Posted over 5 years ago What a cute picture you found for your group. I always wanted to sing. Not my talent. just my name.

Posted about 5 years ago I love to sing, I cut two demo tapes, back when I was 14 and then again when I graduated highschool. I love to listen to them, see how my voice matured. When I first started at college, I was an Music major with a Sociology minor, my emphasis was in opera. I love music. Thanks for making this group!

Posted about 5 years ago I can't carry a tune in a bucket even using both hands. I love music, just it's not a talent I have. I can clear a room faster than a skunk. Even my dog leaves if I try to sing.

Posted about 5 years ago I was taking piano lessons for years and had to find a new teacher who also taught Opera lessons. Well I took time away from my regular piano studies and tried the operetic lessons and after six months of conditioning excersize on my voice, I actually had a two octave range that even surprised me, it was harder then the piano lessons but I can now put people at ease with my voice without using sedatives.

Posted about 5 years ago I LOVE music! I participated in choir in HS, and used to sing and play guitar in a small no-name local band when I was about 16 and lived in the U.P., but it's been a long time since I picked up a guitar. We used to play a lot of 70's southern rock. Lynrd Skynrd, Marshall Tucker, Steve Miller, and the likes. I used to sing Stevie Nicks and Don Henley duet (Leather and Lace) with the lead guitar player...it was pretty cool. My husband heard me sing for the first time ever when we were at one of his bowling tournaments about two years ago. It took me awhile to build up the courage...I suffer from severe stage fright. I've been told by many people that I have a nice voice, but I always thought that it was just others' way a being polite. ; ) Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

Posted about 5 years ago I have been singing solos in church since I was 13. I sang at my second wedding to my groom and at my daughters wedding this past December. I Love to sing karaoke too. I have found that singing karaoke has helped me to not be afraid to sing in church. I used to always be afraid when I sang in church but now its very natural and I am very relaxed. I my also be singing in my other daughters wedding next year. I'm not American Idol material but I love it and have some fans. LOL

Posted about 5 years ago No, I don't know about a story, but now I'm curious, what happened?..... I found a web site with her audition in Atlanta, in case anyone else wants to see! www.popcrunch.com/biker-nurse-amanda-overmyer-american-idol-video-atlanta-auditions-american-idol-motorcycle-nurse-amanda-overmyer-video/ -Angela--'--,--{@

Posted over 4 years ago I love to sing. I use to put on concerts for my parents when I was little, but when they laughed at me (which they really weren't but I took it that way) I would never sing in front of anyone again. I had a friends mom that was going to coach me in singing and then me and my friend could sing in church, but I didn't take her up on it . I was too scared. I have sang in front of my boyfriend and he thinks I am good. Just need a tune up. Would love to take lessons now.

I loved watching her on the show. The only thing I wondered the whole time was the impression she was giving to America in terms of what nurses look like. I personally think she awesome! I love her look (wish I could pull it off!) and she has a steller voice. The whole "biker nurse" image might scare some off though. I don't know if I would take her seriously if she came to do homecare on her bike. Maybe she doesn't and Hollywood just made it seem that way. I wonder where she is now and if she is still an active nurse? Anyone know? |

| Posted over 4 years ago Dear Singing Nurses,
I would love to belong. Have been singing all my life. It keeps me sane and in nursing. Currently I sing in a church choir. Very disciplined choir director. I have learned so much about music in general. Our choir director frowns upon karaoke but I still love it. Church choirs favor sopranos and tenors. I was born an alto and its a stretch for me to sing soprano. Our choir director is very encouraging of all singing out of depth and it has been a good learning experience. I highly recommend a church choir. It's free, you can get great tutoring reading music, sight reading, harmonies, etc. All our choir director asks is compliance with practices - one night a week for 2 hours, participation in Sunday mass, special holiday masses, Christmas eve presentation. It's not bad. I look forward to it. This our busy season now but it is worth the time and effort.
