Do telephone triage nurses find the work day more comforting and relaxed being a telephone triage nurse? I've often thought of it as a good mid-life shift as my kids are getting older, but I'm not sure if I would be engaed enough - I've never really been the office sort.

I do it for a pediatrician's office. You have a guide book to go by-FOLLOW IT! This ensures that everyone who triages is on the same page as far as advice. I'm in my mid-life, too. While I enjoy the physical activity of the other realms of nursing in the office, I enjooy the days when I trade off to do triage(easier on these old bones!).
Let me know if it works out, PITT NURSE.

I work for a temp agency. They have placed me in a gastro office dealing mostly with paperwork-telephone calls-getting charts together-scheduling patients for procedures. I don't like it. I miss the patient interaction. (at least, I won't have to stay here long) Sometimes those phone triage jobs are a real big headache. They get stressful too-it's just mental stress instead of physical stress but it's still stress!
