Honoring My Children

I want to be the best mother

I can be,

to honor my children

by providing boundaries.

Allow me to be in the moment with them,

soaking in all their love

and giving back with mine.

Create the will for my children

to come to me with their problems,

feeling safe, loved and cared for

comforted by my presence.

Today, I will love, care and provide for myself;

only then can I give these priceless gifts away.

Prayer of the Nervous Mother

 Lord I know,

Trees must be climbed,

pebbles thrown

and puddles stomped.

Instead of calling him back,

Help me share in the joy

of these sights, these sounds,

and these experiences.

Help me fight the urge

to look for the stain remover

until after we have had our fun,

run our race,

and laughed out loud.

With Your help,

I can relearn joy

in the sticky hands of a small

but gifted teacher,

as our laughter fills the days ahead.

Lord, Help Me to Teach My Child

Help me to teach my child.

To give her wisdom

and show her how to choose

good people in her life.

Help me to teach my child

to look within

for his very best—

that the Lord is his

strength and guidance.

Help me to teach my child

that enemies will come

but through the Lord she will

always be victorious.

Help me to teach my child

the blessing of being strong, kind

and helpful to others.
