Nurses at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon Hospital, which are run by the same parent organization, will begin the year with marches in front of the two hospitals. At 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, nurses will gather in Mount Vernon to plead with administrators to keep the hospital open and expand services. On Thursday morning, nurses will convene in front of Sound Shore to call for expanded services there, too. The protests come following an announcement that Sound Shore would merge with Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
HVHC nurse gets fined, probation
CORTLANDT – Kevin M. Graiani, a registered nurse from Stony Point, has been fined $500 and sentenced to two years professional probation by the state Board of Regents.
He was cited after admitting to a charge of practicing nursing with negligence on more than one occasion.
On several occasions in April 2011, while employed at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt, he failed to account for the disposal of controlled substances taken from the hospital’s supply for patients, according to state records.
