Posted about 2 years ago I've been a member of this site only a few days and have been browsing through different questions regarding testing. I just took the HESI to get into nursing school and did well, and I am waiting on whether I've been accepted in or not. Here's the question >>>> Is there another HESI test that is taken to get out? Or is it that some schools don't require the HESI to get in and students have to take it at some point during nursing school? HELP!!!!!! |

Posted about 2 years ago My school doesn't use HESI to get in. We used NET when I was applying, and this year's students had to take the TEAS. I don't know about other schools, but we only use HESI as an additional learning resource. At the end of each semester, we take a HESI, and the instructors only select questions for the test that apply to what we learned in that one semester. It counts as anywhere from 5-10% of 30% of our final grade for that semester. (Yes, I know that sounds confusing, it's just part of my school's grading system). The HESI takes all nursing students' averages nationwide and you are scored based on that average. It's a good way to let you know where you stand and what areas you may need to review. It also groups scores based on what degree or certification you are going for. Only ADN students are compared to other ADN students, BSN to BSN, etc. I don't know about using the HESI to "test out"....never heard of that before.

Posted about 2 years ago Np! They are constantly coming up with new testing parameters, software and whatnot. It's hard to keep up! I just don't think I answered Texas832's question very well though. Sorry, Texas, I offered all that I know!

Posted about 2 years ago Well I know it's been a while, but I was accepted!!!!! There is a test that I have to take and pass that I must score a 900 on in order to officially graduate from the nursing program (there was no name given for the test). I'm just excited to have been accepted, I'll worry about the test when that time comes!!!!!

Posted about 2 years ago It all depends on the school. I had to take the NET to get into TWU, and we had a HESI exit exam. At TWU, we also took HESI's every semester to help prepare us for the final exit HESI. Also, at TWU you have 3 chances to pass it. If you do not pass it on the first two times, you don't graduate (well, you can still participate in the ceremony and at pinning. We gave the classmates who didn't pass HESI 2 their pin.) After school is over, you register for HESI 3 and enroll in summer remediation. If you don't pass HESI 3, then you don't get your diploma, and you can't work as a nurse. You are not allowed to reapply to TWU for another 5 years, but you can apply to other nursing schools. Like everyone is saying, it all depends on the school. Some schools use HESI as an actual exam, and not the requirement to graduate. Just wait until orientation, and they will give you all the details!
