Hello . I really need some advice on this matter. I am 37yrs old mother and am finally going back to school for my RN. I am already in the nursing feild & will have a job lined up when I'm done. My dilemma is money & time... I have been looking into an accelerated program that will get me to my goal in 22 months (yahoo!). The downfall.. hefty loans to pay after graduation ($54,000 to be exact). If I go the public school route I estimate my time of gradution from the RN program to be around 47yrs old (this includes pre-reqs & 4yr wait list) but I wont be insanely indebt.

Both schools are accredited an have good programs. I do not qualify for financial aid as I am working on getting previous school loans out of default and my current job only has a $2400 tuition reimbursment each semester .

So I'm not sure what the "smarter" route is. I can be a nurse now and have a huge debt to pay back or wait 10yrs to be a nurse & not have a heavy burden. Anyone have some insight on this matter? I would love to hear from you. Thanks so much

Hiya Bear.. I think that this question speaks for itself.. How much do you want to be indebt?  If you already had a default issue, then you may think that may be an issue.. whatever you decide, I wish you the very best wishes.. I'm sure you will do the right thing or you and believe me you won't be sorry... Please keep us posted.. Teresa

It's a very difficult decision for me since time is ticking and I don't want to start my career at 47yrs old . I was hoping someone who went the private school route would shed some light on this situation for me. Is it worth it? Thank you for your response Teresah. Appreciate it much.

I would go to a private college due your situation. Schools like AmeriTech college are a great option.
