CMA to LPN or RN?

Posted 4 months ago I'm currently training to become a medical assitant. I'm almost finished with the classroom part and next month I'll start my 3 month externship. I was wondering should I go into becoming an LPN or just go straight to training for a RN. Many people have told me MA do the same thing as LPN but LPN gets paid more and it's not worth it. I've only started training for MA just to see if I can handle it before becoming a nurse. So do anyone have any suggestions if I should just go into becoming a RN after some years of working as a Medical Assistant? |

| Posted 4 months ago Hiya, This is my opinion... LPN school is about 12-18 months and the cost is not cheap.. RN school can be finished in 2 years, also not cheap. Sp what I would do is pass over the LPN and go directly into the RN program.. It will ultimately save you time and money.. Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted.. BTW Congratulations on you for your MA program.. Teresa |

| Posted 4 months ago Thank you! Hopefully my financial aid covers it. But there's a long waiting list. |

| Posted 4 months ago Hiya, I have one more opinion... While you are waiting, get all of your pre-req's done..That will help you out when you are a student in the RN class. Next I'd like you to think about this.. The long wait will go by whether or not you decide to go to Nursing School. So the question is where do you want to be when the time goes by.. I hope this gives you something to think about before you make the ultimate decision..Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted on your progress.. Teresa
