I would thoroughly get information on the facility where you are applying. Really understand what your role would be and how you would benefit and fit into their organization.

Thanks for posting that link Head Nurse! I was looking for those articles the other day and just couldn't quite run across them.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I was asked by my clinical instructor to submit a resume to a floor where I had an out rotation. Apparently, the nurse manager there really liked me and said she is "interested in me". So I am taking my resume to her tomorrow and wanted to review the interview tips and articles. Thanks again!

Now, back to martini....since I'm just a nursing student I'm sure there's nothing I can offer a person of experience such as yourself, but I wish you lots of good luck. Hope you get the position!!!!

" If I was offered the advantage of DON and someone asked me;" What would be the great attributes towards doing this job?"

**Wearing good, support sneakers,to run when needed,( falling residents, fire drills, cardiac emergencies).

**Therapeutic, liquid soaps,( to avoid Tricloran-transmission,bar-to-bar and excessive dryness to resident's skin,ie.showers.

**Swear Jars for the staff,( monetary contributions would be bountiful, then use what's saved for the resident's needs).

**Be a good listener, avoid rehashed gossip...Remember, Haste makes Waste.

**Talking callbells, aside from the outdated chimes, that resound,"Hey,get up and get that bell!"

**Role play yourself as," Resident of the Day",( no specific resident),just to see / know what it feels like to,

    " wait for assist to BR,ambulate w/walker/assisted,need to be fed meal/restricted diet,etc."

**One Can Only Become Wise When He Sees Through Another's Eyes."
