I worry about going back to any hospital after my 2009 experience. When I woke around 8pm, the lead nurse told me American Idol was on - she was excited, I was placed at the end of her hall, and by 9pm ignored - I realized why she mentioned it by then. My 3rd revision/leg surgery was painful - I was a good patient at another facility and already knew the drill, but this time a different doctor and new hospital to me, the ice machine was wrapped around my ankle like an anaconda, causing excruciating pain over and above any total knee replacement could. She did not want to answer the call, when she did, she did not like my reasoning and then strapped me in tightly so I could not move by pulling my catheter under the bed. This was worse.  She sent another in-training nurse to tell me to accept this, so I jerked loose - pulling my catheter half out (so I bled internally). I asked to turn the heat down, but she opened the window full bore, left me in the cold all night with the leaking machine all over the bed. The day nurses came in and they were so helpful, knew of her, could not say anything due to internal issues between them, and asked that I do the complaint. Do I trust night nurses? After she trains them? This story is cut short, but you get the drift. I aired my view to the hospital and their Chaplain because she must have said I was not acting normal? I was the weak one, I was hurting and she was just a Nurse Rachet! The doctors were great, except they did not want me complaining too hard, the day nurses were wonderful and were pissed at NRachet, but felt the complaint would be better coming from me not them, they have to work with her off and on??? How fun that must be for them.

This person should have been fired.  Too bad I wanted out of there so badly that I did not get her name or turn around and look back. Lucky me, I may have to go back to that hospital to have another revision...don't worry, I am taking documentation of the whole event with me and posting on my bed if I have to.  lol
