Posted 3 months ago I applied for a job at a local hospital in the cardiology out patient unit or deparmtment. The candidate must be able to perform EKGs and interpret the strips. I did not learn how to interpret them only perform an EKG. I am having a tough time learning the different types of electrocardiography! How much are they expecting me to know? Do they want me to just interpret whether its an abormal reading or more? Any information on this is appreciated! This job description is for a Cardiac Technician but does not require certification, only experience in performing EKGs and working in a hospital setting or doctors office.

| Posted 3 months ago carmen, Hiya.. I don't know for sure, however I would not only think that you should know the abnormals but I think you should be able to interpret the majority of strips. If not, it will surely impress them. When I teach my student EKG'S I have them use Dale Durbin's Rapid Interpretation of EKG's.. It's a great book and easy to follow..Best of luck to you..Please keep us posted.. Teresa |
