Hi. I graduated nursing in the philippines 3 years ago. I took the local exam but i didn't make it. So, i just focused on my work there since hospitals in my area are freeze hiring for nurses and my intention is to work as a nurse in states because my family and fiance are here. And then last year, my fiance here in California petitioned me already. That's why I am here now in CA and trying to pursue my nursing career. I already passed the requirements and they asked me to send copy of my local license and social security. I do have the social security card but i dont have local license, does that mean i am not eligible to take the NCLEX??? :( or should i write an explanation letter? what will i tell? Is it fine if i told them i failed my local exam or it will just cause me to be disqualified? :( thank you for your time reading this..

I worked 4 years with Immigration and I would not suggest that you try to dance around the subject.  Tell them that you did not pass your first test and that you plan to retake the NCLEX here.  After that, see what they say and start studying for the exam.

As an aside, I would not ever say that I failed. It does bad things to your brain that make you think that you are a failure.  I may not have passed a test, but if I put in my best effort at the time and did not pass, then I did not pass.  If I did not take the test at all, then I would have failed.  See the difference?
