I just wanted some solid "Real" advice. i am currently working in a Residential School for boys for the past 17 years. I am turning 40 this July and have deciced to go to school to become an R.N. I know this will be hard work and i am ready for that, my goals are to be able to accomplish this and travel the world doing some human services for the less fortunate. I am traveling to China this summer before school starts for some adventures in the old villages.
I get very excited about things as i am about beginning this journey to be a Registered Nurse. Just looking to get some ideas of what to expect, hurdles, or anything that can help me prepare even before i get started. even along the line of studying. Thanks Mike

How exciting for you.. This is really a dream of a life time for many nurses..
So you are going to China for "vacation". I would think that with there would be an awesome to see how their health care system. The good with the bad.. the bad might give you some insight about being a traveling nurse to less fortunate contries.
Have you finished your pre-req's yet? It's a good idea if you can to get them out of the way before hitting the nurse part.. There is alot to learn with those classes by themself...
So educationally I can tell you what I tell my students:::..
Don't expect it to be a walk in the garden.. But you can do it. You will need to attend school every day.. There is so much to miss if you are absent. Prepare for studying at least 2-3 hours per day.. Do any homework assigned on time. That will also keep you from falling behind.. Form a study group.. It's easier to learn and quiz a few rather than yourself. Plan on a child service back up plans.. Things do happen.. You are going to think that you will never finish this program. But you will.......
Prepare for an awesome time in your life. When you are through, (and that will happen), you will feel so good about yourself and your accomplishments. You are going to have the time of your life... Enjoy...
Best of luck to you.. Please keep us posted...
Again, Welcome to NL..
