I am actually preparing for Nclex and I am using Saunders 4th edition. I just took the test that comes on the CD and according to that the software made my calendar to study the Saunders book according to my weaknesses. I also have Lacharity book for prioritization, I have the Q&A Nclex RN review from Lippincott's and the questions are very good.

This is in my opinion.... I found 2 books that I loved and utilized to help me study for my nursing exams - the books are a little pricey but I feel well worth it! I sat for my boards this Feb2011 - 80 minutes 75 questions - passed the first time! Davis's Q&A for NCLEX Review ISB#9780803621879 includes a CD with different Q&A than book (really awesome!) The other book is put out by the NSNA, NCLEX RN Review NSNA ISB# 1418053155. Hope that helps - felt these books were awesome! They have nice oulines taking the meat and potato of the content and great 'tests' review explainations for why the answer is correct.

I did not find any good websites...Again you need to be aware what you find on the web for review material, as anyone can post something. Some of my classmates paid for the Kaplan review (I have heard it is very good but also very expensive $500.00)... So I am not sure what your funds are like but Kplan offers a money back if you do not pass...- hope you pass the first tiem though! I set aside time and did questions from the books I reccomended to you - I did them on the computer (both books come with CD's). The NCLEX is computerized so I wanted to build up my endurance for sitting in front of the computer for a few hours...so I would do 100-150 questions a day. The week I sat for my exam was also my birthday week - so I did not study that week I had fun with friends and family - went into the Coast Guard Academy and help with drawing blood in the lab. The night before my exam I booked a hotel room so I did not have to worry about winter weather and arriving for 730am - and went out to dinner with my boyfriend...

Yes, I passed...I sat for 80 minutes nervous as all get out and answered 75 questions - the computer shut off (my nerves were just starting to settle when it shut off - I was thinking I could have answered a few more questions! - sick I know) So the minimum is 75 you can answer - 265 is the max - I believe 6hrs in the max sit time...

You will have to check out Kaplan website - I am just repeating what classmates said to me...

Good Luck!

If your school has a book store, maybe they can reccomend a book for you..I always bought used books , because of the in crib notes.. See if there are students that are no longer using their books. One way or another, best of luck to you..Teresa

 Hello!

I never used a book but I found this good study guide online that you buy and download right there on the website. It was www.teachingsolutions.org/nclex.html. This really helped me out, I passed because of it! I highly recommend you check it out and try it.

xo,

I've talked to lots of NCLEX takers and they say that Saunders NCLEX book is good for reference, but the questions are easy. So for practice tests, go for Kaplan or NCLEX 4000 and Lippincott, but saunders for studying...
