| Posted almost 2 years ago Dear Garzat 1987, You need to talk to someone who is a career counselor at your college. I know that when I attended college, you needed Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Biochemistry, Life Span, Algebra, Microbiology, and Pyschology, but this was my school's requirements. It is hard to say what the best nurse position is, but your career counselor will try to help you with that. You really need to sit down with someone who is in the profession. I love Geriatrics, but you may choose something such as Mental Health, Med-Surg, or even Emergency. The choices are endless. You may want to talk with the nursing staff at the school you are attending, they can be very helpful. I hope my 2 cents will help. Buzz me if you have more questions! |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Hiya guys, Great advice. Since you have your GED (congratulations). what was said was very true.. Try to et those pre-req's out ofthe way 1st.. I can tell you that that is what they really want so you can focus on your studies once you get into the Nursing Program.. Sorry ladies, but this candidate is male and wanted all over, they also get paid more. The male po;ulation is growing so fast, that it's awesome to see. Since I"m a Nurse and a teacher it always facinates me when they enroll in my class..I would wait to see the areas for nursing that you will train on and then pick a major.. You never know, it coud be NICU (LOL), it never seems to amaze me.Also if your able because you're young, try to get to the highest degree that you can..More degrees =more $$.. You also might try to look into the armed forces..They will pay your entire education..My niece went in right out of HS and is now a Captain and a Nurse Midwife.. Here next stop is her Phd..There are always reasons that you can't ,but my niece had 2 beautiful daughters, lost a set of twins and Oh yea, had brain surgery which they found during a routing Physical..No she didn't get out, At 38 with full benefits, she hopes to have the VA set her up in her own Women's Clinic,, So good luck and God Bless you in allof your future endeavors...Keep us posted.. Hugs,Teresa

| Posted almost 2 years ago Dear Garzat1987, I don't think being in regular or learning disability classes are going to matter. Nursing is a difficult course to study no matter what classes you had or not take my word for it. Your study habits is the key to getting over the hurdles, believe what I tell you. There were plenty of times I wanted to goof off, but I had an important test nearly every other day in PN school! Just keep your nose to the grind stone, and I'll see you in the trenches. GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
