what are the best review books for nclex?

Is it helpful to enroll in review center like kaplan?  it's kinda expensive... it is worth it?

what are the effective study habits for this exam?

Dear Hills_25,

I am not sure which NCLEX you are studying for , but Kaplan is a good source. For my PN boards, I used Prentice Hall Comprehensive NCLEX-PN Review with Rationales, and CD-ROM. They have a RN review, too. I believe anything can help as far as the NCLEX. You may want to go to the NCLEX-PN/RN website and download questions, I found them to be helpful. If your school offers a review course for testtakers, you may want to take advantage of that, too. You have to keep in mind that the test is testing your competency to practice nursing safely, not how many you get right. I found just understanding the stem of what the question is asking, helps alot when looking over your answer choices. You are able to eliminate 2 choices right off the bat, but treat each question as if it's your first and answer to the best of your ability. Practice with the CD-ROM, and take a test maybe everday, starting with maybe 25 questions per test until you reach a 100. I studied night and day for my NCLEX-PN boards. I utilized a 2-day review at my school, and studied notes from that course, too.  I usually studied for 3-4 hours a day, but everyone has their own study habits. I hope my 2 cents helps, GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi hills_25.  in my recent experience having taken NCLEX, thinking critically was crucial on my test.  the 2009/10 edition didnt help me much from the NCLEX's critical thinking aspect either although our textbooks were saunders.  i studied kaplan and i believe it was that study material which got me over the hump.
