Not just the No. 2 pencils, the questions on the boards that I could only answer because I had learned 3rd world medicine in the Navy (really, remember how to hook up glass bottles in sequence for a chest suction or even worse, DO YOU still have your sharpening stone for needles and scalpels?).

futuremalenurse..I think that you should talk with a counselor from both schools. Some times the credits are tranferable and sometimes not. Do some investigation work and it will save you a lot of headaches in the end..Best of luck ..Please keep me posted Best of luck to you..Teresa

I always recommend a study group, even if it is a group of two.

That was the only way that I survived some of my chemistry and graduate classes.  I found someone who was willing and together, we could reconstruct the entire test, our answers and our grades to within 2-3 points EVERYTIME.

Having someone who thinks a little differently than you, helps you to study things you didn't think of and it gives you someone to whom you are accountable for your studies (amazingly simple, but powerful piece to studying or developing a career is having someone to whom you feel accountable to).

If you are having real problems with the subject, get a tutor - - EARLY.  Do not wait until mid-terms or finals to find one.

Good luck.

last semester was crazy, but passed all my classes. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for some of my classmates. Our patho/pharm class started with 140 students, 50-60 failed and had to retake it, 30 people got kicked out of the program...Everyone was extremely stressed. This semester I have OB, nursing research, and Pysch/Mental health...Looking forward to this semester.

Congratulations on passing and completing your classes..Stress is part of learning, but also part of being in the nursing field..When you begin to work, Stress will be there too..It can be a great learning tool if you allow it... Best of luck in you next semester..It sounds like it's going  to have great learning expierences, and hopefully you will love them  too...Hugs,Teresa

I am still alive.

My daughter's divorce is final, my wife and I are custodians of my grandson (helps with support) and the ex is gone with a restraining order to boot.

Grandson (5 months old) is happy and learning quickly (Baby-Can-Talk and swimming in my therapy pool).

Have a great semester ahead.  Now that you know that you can do it, keep doing it.  It will be done before you know it.

Last semester was weight lifted off my shoulder, nothing below a B. SENIOR YEAR starts the end of August!!!!!!!! So excited, but scared too. I hear this is going to be the most intense semester. I have Peds, Community, Leadership, and Critical Thinking, along with 2 clinicals. I think I'm just freaked out knowing I will graduate in less than year and then take my board.

Amber,

You are doing great -- Keep doing it.

The class before mine warned us of the horrors of the senior year.  I actually thought it was easier, because clinicals were not new anymore, just different subject matter (i.e., same basic nursing stuff, different department).

All is well.

Working on my own PT for back, neck and ankle (2-3+ hours a day), caring for my grandson and home and just trying to stay sane.

NL, FB and even my e-mail have been neglected.  The only winner, beside my immediate family, is that I am talking with my mother more now (she is 83 and still very active, travelling, part-time school nurse, gardener).  We did not see eye-to-eye for a while (I joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during Viet Nam to get on my own).

Take care and I will try to be better.

Hi Everyone,

I started this thread about a year ago and it was funny logging in and seeing there was activity.

So much has happened in the past year.

My second week of school I discovered I was pregnant.  I have a beautiful 3 1/2 month old.  It has been hard but doable.  I have complete my first year and have passed every single class with  a B or higher.

I'm enjoying my small break and wil be back at it next Monday!!!!

Congratulation on your baby  .. You must be thrilled.. Also, awesome that you continued your schooling.. Yes, I'm sure it's a whole lot more difficult, but it will be so worth it in the long one.... Best of luck... Don't be gone so long....LOL, Keep us posted... Teresa

+Congratulations on both counts:  Your baby and keeping up with school at the same time.  It will be a bit more work, but worth it when you are done.  You will feel better about yourself and your child will look up to you with greater admiration knowing that you did both and did them well.

Good job and let us know how you and the baby are doing (I have new pics of my grandson on NL:).
