Posted almost 2 years ago That's a really loaded question.. There are doctors that I worked with that are just the worst and then there are some that are fantastic.. Advaced Practice Nurses are the same...If you are looking into one of those specialties, interview some of them..They love talking about themselves.. That's the way I got the doctors I use . Pediatrics too. Good luck to you and God Bless you.. I really think it's all about the person themselves.. But that's just my 2 cents worth... Hugs, Teresa

Posted almost 2 years ago Dear MHS, I agree with Teresah, that is a loaded question. Nurses are valuable, no matter what level of schooling are training they have. Doctors are the same. I have a cousin who is a physician who says she couldn't do anything without her nurses. I am thinking that no matter what education you have, bad practice is just that bad practice, it can be doctors , nurses, anyone in their respective jobs. That's my 2 cents, and I'm sticking to it.

Posted almost 2 years ago I have to agree with Teresa. I will grant that a physician has more theoretical and practical education than does an NP. The real difference is what they do with it. I met physicians that were so marginal, that I would rather be treated by a good Navy Hospital Corpsman. But I can say that about NP's, PA's, DO's, MD's, DVM's, DDS's, etc. You get the idea. It comes back to what do they do with the training and education that they have received (and also what T&E they did receive). I have worked with foreign-trained physicians that were out-of-this-world crazy good. I also worked with some that our Chief Medical Officer had me do his clinics for him when he went on vacation. Hope that helps versus confuses. Tom, PhD, MPH, BS(N), RN-C, CHN
