Posted about 2 years ago I have just gotten my LPN license in May and have been steadily looking for a job here in Cincinnati,OH and its a pain. If your not a RN they almost wont even look at you. My family, alot of them are sick, very sick, and we have been so broke I cant renew my CPR, which I totally have to have. I read some of the postings on here ( HI Im New:) ) and I am getting even more discouraged and plain mad. I feel like why did I put all the effort in school, which people put down the college I went to also, I really enjoy nursing but have worked in fast food all my life. I see people writing that they feel like they are not a real nurse being a LPN, which I dont beleive that either, but it is such a tough crowd out there, just seems like it gets harder and harder though. |

| Posted about 2 years ago Dear MWaits 513' I know where you're coming from! Believe me, I do. I just graduated LPN school here in Chipley, Florida back in February 2011, I got my license in March 2011. It has been nearly 2 months and I'm still looking for a job. Don't give up, girl! There's something out there. LPNs are needed, regardless of how it might look. The economy is very bad right now, you may want to check out the post from Teresah_ RN, new grad without a job. She gives wonderful advice, just check out some of the posts in Nursing Link's forum, they'll give you encouragement and hope, and advice. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Posted about 2 years ago Its funny, I got a phone call today to start orientation for home health care, the pay isnt so hot and I have a feeling the drive will be a little long, but at least its experience and I'm not feeling like I'm going to forget everything I learned in school. Its not really an area I wanted or the type of work I thought I'd be doing, but I figure they need help, thats what I became a nurse for:) |

| Posted about 2 years ago Home health can actually work out very well for you. I have said this before, sometimes in different ways, but in home care you are working out in the community with patients, their families and their problems in their homes. That alone would scare off lesser nurses. The other nice thing about it, in many cases, if you do not work straight days, you will know your schedule far in advance. This is important if you are looking to expand your studies. You may also be able to take advantage of several different inservices, if your agency is affiliated with more than one facility. You may find that it may be more than a foot-in-the-door, but a foot kicking in the door when you get good community-based experiance. Good job hunting and please keep us up on how it is going. | Posted about 2 years ago NOT going so good, they want me to go in the opposite direction, met a patient today I would love to work with but just too far away and the pay is not good, plus, no real bonus or insurance, got to look out for me and my family also, plus this place is hiring like crazy nut cant send me in the area I want to go? Thats just messed up. Still tryin though, for the experience, even though I DO prefer Geriatrics and a facility to try and make a difference, I know good luck right? |

| Posted about 2 years ago Not all swings make home-runs. Keep swinging at those jobs. Just a thought. Because the advertisement may not look great, it could have more with their ability to write a vacancy opening, not how cool the opening is going to be. Check 'em out, interview, remember, if you interview and do not want the job, you do not have to take it (it's two-way street). Tom, PhD, MPH, BS(N), RN-C, CHN |
