Posted almost 2 years ago Hello my name is Raven and I am a recent RN-ADN graduate. I've been a LVN for 5 years. I'm so happy to finally be able to get my RN. I am looking to continue to my BSN and master degree. I am a 29 yr old single mother of one, and know anything is possible with God and determination!! I'm new to this site and already enjoy the many different resources it has available for nurses!! Just wanted to say HELLO to all the nurses out there!! Also is anyone familiar with forensic nursing? I am really interested in this field and would like to get pointers of internships or best way to get involved in this new field!! I live in Houston, texas.. Look forward to this new family!! |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Hiya Rae11, congratulations on finishing you RN..My main answer on some of these type questions is to go to a facility and talk to them about what interests you..I know for a fact that the morgue will give you a tour and answer your questions...I lived in Tx. in the early 80's not to far rom A&M university . I worked at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital in the ER.. I really like Tx.. There is so much to do there..Also do and internet search and I'm sure you will be able to find information that way.. Maybe you can find a nurse chat room that may work forensics.. Well good luck to you and God Bless, Teresa |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Tom..LOL, have you been taking your silly pils today,,, You are such a trip.. I think there must be some sane nurses here, but I'll stand by what I alread said.. do a search and make an appointment to go view and find out some information.. When I taught in MI. A friend of mine , Scott, would allow my students to tour.. He would show them all kinds of things and such. It really made some of the students very curious and made othe students sick.. So give it a try, Hey it takes a pt a minimum of 18 hours to see a doc @ Baylor Hosp. Between that, and all of the other nonsense There should be a place for you to observe and ask question... Best of luck to you and keep us posted,,Teresa

| Posted almost 2 years ago Hi Rae! Forensic nursing is a field that I eventually want to get into as well. I also love research, so I want to one day get into an area that possibly combines both of these. I talked with a career counselor at the college I graduated from, and she directed me to this website: www.iafn.org (It wouldn't let me actually post link) It gives you a lot of information about where to start, what's required, and things like that. I found it helpful, hope you do too! |
