I am having a problem because I do so very well with questions from some authors while doing so poorly with questions from other authors.  I would really like to know what publisher makes test prep questions that seem most like the actual NCLEX test so I can study accordingly.  Thanks for any help :)

Dear MMILLER1887,

There are so many, don't know where to start. You have Saunders, then there's Kaplan. I tried Prentice Hall's Comprehensive Review with CD-ROM. It contained over 5,000 questions. I took alot of quizzes and exams, the quizzes were 100 questions, while the exams were 205. You may want to start with the authors you are most comfortable with, and go from there. We even have some interesting NCLEX practice tests on NL, check them out. Go through some of the posts on the NCLEX EXAM forum, it answers all questions NCLEX related. You probably need to try out the NCLEX test site, it can help too. Believe me, anything can help. I have even heard of flash cards for NCLEX, too. Try all avenues available to you, if your school offers a prep course, check it out. I hope my 2 cents helps. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!

Dear MMiller1887,

I'm not sure if you are an LPN or RN student or if it really even matters, but from my experience as a newly licensed LPN the NCLEX-PN was mostly common sense. Meaning nrsg process & prioritizing questions. As for the content it was all COMMON dx's, meds, tx's, & nrsg intvntns. If there was anything I've never heard of it was most likely a sample ques which did not count. As for NCLEX review books. I used Davis's, Lippincott's, & Saunders (which all came with the cd-rom that simulates the NCLEX). They were all really helpful & I couldn't choose a favorite if I wanted to. I really liked the fact that I had 3 different resources for all types of questions that would be thrown at me so I would be 100% prepared. There are lots of free questions you can find for free online too. Just google free nclex review questions or nclex practice questions & you'll see. One site I liked was testprepreview.com. I also purchased an app on my iTouch (IDK if you have that or an iPhone) called NCLEX-PN review by Upward Mobility for $7.99. The RN is a little more. That was probably my favorite study tool. Anyway, I hope I have helped you make a decision. Just remember to study at least 50 to 100 ques/day. It will really help you be prepared in the long run & you may even recognize some of the questions... I did! Good luck on your NCLEX!

I just took the NCLEX and I would have to say that Kaplan questions are most like the NCLEX.  Like others, I had a variety of books that I used, but Kaplan's level of difficulty made the NCLEX very manageable.  My test cut off at 75 questions (was able to do that in 45 minutes) and I passed the NCLEX with no problems.   For an iPhone app, I liked the Data Monkey questions, and I think it was $3.99.  Hope it helps and good luck on your test!

I have the DataMonkey RN quiz card app and I love it.  I am so glad you recommend it and that it's not a waste of time.  I really like the rationales and level of difficulty.  Thanks for your input.  My test is the 11th!

I took the NCLEX yesterday and I must say that the Kaplan test prep questions were most like the actual NCLEX.  I still don't know for sure if I passed, but I  must say, that wasn't so bad!
