Posted almost 2 years ago I have a friend that went through school for RN, she has worked as an LPN for a year while getting her RN, she filled out the application and took the test for licensure and passed, the board sent her a letter that said that her license has not yet been issued a month later because she answered "no" in the area that asked if that she had had any convictions. She said that she thought that since she got her LPN and has worked for a year and passed all these background checks for that and school that the deferred sentence was wiped off of her record. Will she be able to get her license? |

Posted almost 2 years ago Wow this is definately a hive of loose bees...I'm not exactly sure what she needs to do at this time..I would hope that someone at the BON could give her instructions on what needs to be done. She may need an attorney. I'm going to forward this to Tom. Hopefully with all of his expierence, he may know the trail she needs to take.. God Bless you for caring and for you friend.. Hugs,Teresa

Posted almost 2 years ago Thanks TeresahRN. It is hard enough for people to turn their lives around and make something out of themselves when they come from a dead beat family. She has done very well to put herself through college and is the first in her family to make something of herself. All the advice that I could give her would be greatly appreciated. I just wonder why she was allowed to work as an LPN for the last year and had a license for that issued to her and now is encountering problems.

Posted almost 2 years ago From what I have read about deferred sentences the time sequence is very important. Technically: She has had a conviction "ever". Tricky situation. If the judge has turned over the conviction, then it should legally should have not "happened". This is really a lawyer question way out of my leaque. Sorry. Tom, PhD, MPH, BS(N), RN-C, CHN

Posted almost 2 years ago She has been in contact with the officer in charge of her case and had to provide them with the info of the case, it was a straight conviction, she was told it had been expunged from her record due to it being so long ago and only being a misdemeanor. Anyway, the officer stated that since she didn't tell about it she may have to attend an ethics class and do up to 30 CEU. They won't know for another month when it is set before the board.

Posted almost 2 years ago My friend sent letters of recommendation that she has recieved from her present and past employers to the case worker that is in charge of her case in hopes that it may help her get a little bit of leniency. I don't know if it will work or not. we have been praying also , I think God will help more than anything else. He seems to have helped me through alot in my life.

Posted almost 2 years ago My friend got word last week that her license is active, she doesn't know what else she is going to have to do to get things in order, but at least this way she can make more money to do what needs to be done.
