| Posted over 4 years ago Tattooes are VERY addictive. I will be getting my 4th this year. It's really funny because no one thinks I am the "tattoo-type"! I love to suprise people with my dark side! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I agree that there is something addictive about good tattoos. I got my first one when I was 25 (picked something off the wall) no big deal. Now, 31 years later I have gotten 5 tattoos in the last 6 months, and they are not little ones! I am a nurse in a hospital in a small town, but am always surprised at how many of my co-workers are inked. Every new tattoo has been well thought out & has deep meaning for me. Both my lower legs have tattoos & both shoulder blades & upper arms. I didn't think I would get one lower than my elbow, but my next one will be on my forearm. I will just wear long sleeves under my scrubs. I enjoy seeing other tattoos & hearing about the stories behind them. I think I like the "shock value" of telling people I have tattoos because on the outside, no one would suspect it of me. It's really fun! |

| Posted over 4 years ago Piercings and tattoos are becoming a large part of society...so many people use them as a form of expression....the office I work for, recently revamped their dress code policy, allowing small nose piercings. Alot of the nurses I work with, along with other staff have tattoos. Some are visible on their wrists, on the back of their necks...and I think as long as they are tasteful, then what is the harm. I myself, have them in covered area's of my body, for my own reasons. I think alot of people are becoming more open minded about self expression. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I think that tattoos are Ok unless it's something vulgar. The tribal look is very cool. The piercings drive me nuts! Eyebrow, lip, side of nose, tongue. How can a nurse be expected to be taken seriously if she would set off a metal detector? Phil 4:13 |

| Posted about 4 years ago for a professional job of course they need to be hidden it doesn't make you a weirdo cause you have one or many I personally wouldn't like to see them on necks and lower arms of a professional get them, enjoy them, and place them in an appropriate area

| Posted about 4 years ago I like to express myself with my beautiful, natural, God given skin without markings. Man has decided to do all kinds of crazy things. I think Tatoos are another one of these things. Why mark our beautiful bodies? What are we trying to say that we cannot say with words and actions? Seems silly to me. A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted about 4 years ago For me, tattoos are symbols of my life with out words. It is a lifestyle that is personal to me; something that my husband and I share. Besides, my husband thinks that they are sexy. Yes, God gave us our skin wihtout tattoos, but not without markings. I have about 9 birth marks all over my body! When we die, our body's are left for dust and our spirits are what live in enternity. I do not feel that tattoos are against God or against Christian beliefs! I know many devoute Christians that have tattoos. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I currently have two tattoos about the size of my palm on my stomach and lower back. My stepgrandmothers brother (older man) met me at a pool party at my fathers home and proceded to tell me how disgusting he thought women with tattoos were. Later, after I refused to be offended by his outdated opinion and basically laughed him off, he apologized. I play roller derby, and we happen to have three R.N.s on our team, counting me, one of which isn't tattooed. The other is one of the most brillant nurses I know, and has a backpiece. Everyone has their own opinions, but just like I don't tell people that don't have them that they should go get them, I find it rather ignorant when people rant and rave. I plan to get a backpiece after nursing school wraps up. I don't plan to get anything that can't be covered by a short scrub top. I happen to LOVE when I see patients who have them, because even when they are incoherent and about to pass away, an old wrinkly tattoo reminds me that once they were young, and if they could speak to me, they'd probably have a story or two. As far as scarring a "beautiful" body, that's also an opinion. To me, stretch marks and spider veins are ugly, and I'd rather look at a beautiful piece of art. I agree that our profession has a image of purity, and that it can effect employment, but having them is no reflection on your abilities. As far as tattoos looking "dirty"and inspiring the need to be "scrubbed" that is rather offensive. And quoting the Old Testament for backup for your beliefs? Give me a break. That's why there is a New Testament. Eye for an eye became turn the other cheek, and so forth. You don't like them? Fine. But keep comments about dirtiness where they belong, to yourself. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Of course we want to have things we want like tatoos, and we get to show them to the world. But in situations like applying for a job, you may have to hide them first. If you feel like the administration is not judgmental or something like that, I think it's just tright to tell them about your tatoos. Many are open on these things nowadays. Unsolicited events encumbered the profession that I've always loved. Recently accepted home-based work for http://www.pulseuniform.com to reconnect with the industry. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Im curious about the tattoo in the nursing field. i decided to get a tattoo tributed to my birth son (i am a birth mother). Its just a taurus symbol with his birthdate on the bottom..its on my wrist. very tasteful.. What are my chances now being hired somewhere? i Know i can cover it with a long sleeve shirt. When i go to an interview should i cover it? or have them see it and decide what to do? |

| Posted over 3 years ago It's amazing for someone that is an athiest, that every post is turned toward GOD. Must be on your mind an awful lot, I thought that was the reason to be an athiest, was to not think of GOD. |

Now that is not fair. I am pretty sure there was at least ONE post I did not turn towards god.

While you are kind of close in what an atheist's relationship with god is, it is not that we do nothink think about it... we just do not believe in it. Just as I can think about the easter bunny and not belive in it. See?
A subtle, but , oh so important distinction. Thank you for your concern. Man will not be free until the last lawyer is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. With apologies to Voltaire |

| Posted over 3 years ago LOL; you actually made think of the scripture where Jesus said "even the rocks would cry out". There is actually a website, geared toward atheists who found GOD, about how they couldn't stop thinking about GOD, even though they proclaimed to not believe in him, and that scripture is their mantra. I don't believe in the Easter bunny too, but I think about the Easter bunny only once or twice a year, as a matter of fact, I think it's the only time I've mentioned the Easter bunny on this website, lol |

| Posted over 3 years ago It is also a scripture, what ever a man thinketh, so is he. He thinks of God, because he is his creation. You don't have to believe in him, ex. What is the first thing a man say, when he is in danger ???? I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health. |

And yes, it can hinder you from getting a job if you can see the tats. So, cover them up. Never get them on your neck or arms if possible. there are plenty of other places for tats.

lol
