Has any LPN/LVN's here utilized Excelsior College's distant or online Assoc Degree in Nursing, or BSN program?  What about the College Network distant/online degrees?

I am curious as to how that went and if you'd recommend it to others.

The college network DOES NOT GRANT DEGREES nor are they accredited - anywhere!

They are a publishing company only.  Excelsior College is a real college and has they authority to grant a degree.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.  I spent a lot of time researching and talking to people who have used both and of course got pros & cons.  To throw a twist in to it, I chose RUE who is NOT a college that grants degree's but they offer  online classes that are guided study. Rue supplies the workbook and the teachers and online learning system. They provide amazing support. At the end of the course though, we have to take the final exam through either CLEP or Excelsior.  The clinicals are done through Excelsior at a hospital or medical facility which they now offer multiple locations for convenience of the student. It use to be all students had to travel to NY city to do their clinical weekend.

RUE finances everyone however if you drop out or get behind, they can get nasty as RUE borrows the money from a financial facility on our behalf. So if you drop out, the loan is still due and must be paid by you. What I did was only signed up for the first year of classes through RUE. That way if something happens and I need to drop out or something happens, I will only be paying for one year. (At my request). They try to stretch out your pymts for 5 yrs so they make a lot of money on interest. I opted for the higher pymts of $219/mth for 12 mths.

I highly recommend nobody commits to the fulll 2 yrs up front nor for 5 yrs financing. RUE does say grants are available and you'll get $200- $1,400 off if you sign up NOW.  However, they are not really grants. They are offering you the actual prices. So don't be pressured in to signing up NOW, because there is no such thing as discounts or grants.

I am currently taking my 1st class with them online and I am doing well. Their learning system online is amazing and filled with resources. The teacher is available to help when we get stuck.
