Posted almost 2 years ago I graduated from the Chicago Public Schools PN Program in June 2009.....I finished all the required courses but didnt pass the ATI. No one did out of 66 students, even the #1 girl in the whole program. I'm a CNA and in school and I'm ready to stop procrastinating and start studying for that ATI. What would you recommend. I have a saunders(dark red), and Lippincott(blue and green) not sure what they years are. Im now 20 and it's been two years so I don't want to keep waiting. I also have a 2010 Davis Drug Book (lavender). |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Lamontane, You did well to stay practicing nursing. Some of your lessons probably make more sense to you. On the other hand, you must be frustrated as hell working as a CNA after finishing PN training. I was a Second Class Hospital Corpsman [=Sergeant] in the Navy and ran the Military Sickcall for the Quantico Marine Corps base, along with seeing patients and doing minor surgery. Yeah. It was frustrating working as a Nurses Aide through my BSN program. I cannot guide you to anything specific, but give it a day and there are several LPN who have used different study guides out there. I will contact some and ask them to chime in. You'll do well. You just passed the first hurdle. Wanting to do it. Dr. Tom Tom, PhD, MPH, BS(N), RN-C, CHN |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Dear LAMONTANE, The 2 study guides you mentioned are very good!!! If there is a study guide to the ATI, you may need to purchase it. Find out from the school you attended what they recommend to study for this test!!!! To study for my NCLEX-PN in Florida I used Prentice Hall-Comprehensive which had a CD-ROM. The disc contained over 5,000 questions and rationales, and also had 3 operating modes-study,quiz, and exam!!!! I also used the book that came with the disc, but I study 3-4 hours/day every week before my scheduled exam!!!!! I took breaks and did other things, but getting my license was paramount!!!!! You can use all the resources you mentioned in your post, but find you a comprehensive guide to the ATI !!!!!!! It should also contain a disc for test practice-the more comfortable you get with how the exam is on computer the better!!! I know that I felt more @ ease with the test for the mere fact I had used that type of testing besides the textbook!!!!! Don't wait-get to studying right now!!!! You tend to forget things when not in regular use. You are a graduate of a PN program-a nurse is what you are meant to be!!!!! There is nothing wrong with being a CNA, and I have been one, and am still one!!!! But now is the time for bigger and brighter things, GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!! Please keep us posted!!!!!! Welcome to NL, and my name is Shonna L. Potter, LPN or 09157238!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
