Dear MAKYA 02,

It's probably test anxiety-I do know where you're coming from!!!!! You can overstudy for the NCLEX!!!!!! It's not a test for how many answers you get right-it's trying to determine your competency to practice safely!!!!!! You can't go in the test expecting to answer a certain minimum number of questions and thinking that's a PASS!!!!! You can PASS or FAIL @ any number of questions. What determines a PASS or FAIL is level of difficulty of questions and where do you fall @ the state's passing standard-either above, below, or almost near it!!!!!!!!  I say purchase you a comprehensive study guide @ local book store-Saunder's, Kaplan, or Prentice-Hall-you need a CD-ROM. The disc has 1,000s of questions @ different levels just like the NCLEX to get you thinking on how to break down what the question is actually asking you, not what you think it's asking!!!!!! You have to look @ the stem of the question, most of the time it tells you what you're looking for in the answer!!!!

I study for my NCLEX-PN 3-4 hours/day!!!!! I was on the disc, and studying the book non-stop!!!!! The disc helped me to focus on my weaknesses by breaking the NCLEX down into sections-Patient Needs, OB,PEDS, PHARMACOLOGY, MENTAL HEALTH, GERIATRICS. Even had a section on med calculations  in the book!!!!! I believe there are more NCLEX study guides to pick from-just look around and search the internet, too!!!!!! Don't give up, and you're not doing anything wrong-some of the best students in class have trouble passing the NCLEX!!!! Please look on NL forum for NCLEX-read with others are saying, you're not alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My name is Shonna or 09157238 and welcome to NL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAKYA 02 is right.

Really don't over think this.   They just want safe.    The test throws out general questions in general areas.  Then, it seems like it will throw out questions  in areas you are your weakest.  In other words, This might be the areas you are more unsafe in.   If you get more wrong, for example, answers in the  Psych area , it may  continue to ask you more question in that catagory.  But think of this way,  the computer program is trying to help you pass.

When you study, don't try to get so deep into a subject. Don't try to memorize more then any human brain can remember.

Try to ask why, to information given.  Such as if I am giving an Antigoagulant (names the drug) what lab would you need.  So when your studying areas, ask why and the answer will come to you faster. So if the pt, ptt, inr is too high,  the person takes to long to coagulate and may bleed. You may want to hold the drug or call the doctor and tell him.

get it?  it is not hard..... it is safe.

If digoxin slow the heart rate, what would you want to do before giving it to the pt.......maybe check the heart rate?

knowing that what is a symtom/or reaction from dig.?

I could go on....but you get the idea.  thats how you should study.

don't read things that are just  "fill in" information in a book. don't spend time on drugs or procedures that are not common.... most likely will not be on the test.

good luck:)
