Hi,
I am needing some good honest opinions for those out there that are already nurses.
I have a BS degree in child development and am trying to get into an Alternate Enrty MSN program. Mu undergrad GPA is not so great (a 2.4). NOt because I was a party animal in college but because 2 semesters ruined it for me. 1 semester my mother passed away and towards the end I was diagnose with cancer.
Every school I have talked to says they strictly enforce the 3,0 GPA requirement. However, I have quite a resume. I have done mission work in Africa, held leadership positions, Started a UNICEF at my uniiversity, held national positions with child advocacy groups, etc. What I do have going for me is all of my pre-req classes for nursing school are A's. I am currently a clinical assistant at a childrens hospital.
There is nothing else in this world that I want more than to become a nurse. And on top of it I know i am going to be a damn good one. I am NOT doing it for the money but for my love of medicine and patient care. So, is it worth to even apply considering I dont match the criteria? How do I make a nursing school see that I have what it takes?

Thanks!

Find a nursing school that accepts a 2.5 gpa and above(UTA). Don't give up on your dream. Texas Tech has a online program for second degree students. One of their requirements is that you have CNA license.TWU has two new programs a weekend BSN program and a BSN fast track program that starts this summer. I don't know where you live but this for the Dallas Forth Worth Area. I hope this helps.
