I'm 20 and looking to get into nursing. I originally planned to save money and earn my cna one and two to make a bit above minimum wage and gain experience before going to college. I'm 110% comfortable with bookwork, however, I don't have a lot of confidence in applying what I learn hands on. I heard LPN's do the same work as experienced cna's with a few exceptions. Would the cna license be a waste of time or would it make me a better LPN/RN? Could I make enough money to leave home as an LPN? If so, I think I'd like to bridge to the RN. I'm young but deeply unsatisfied with minimum wage careers. I want to work with purpose that goes beyond scraping together a meager living. I want to improve lives and be independent. Thanks teresa. =) I'll take a trip uptown to the community college and see what it would take to get to the top. Due to a recent surgery, my bank account is empty and I just started working at Dunkin Donuts. I'll make the small investment to get my cna certification so I can work in the field while going to school. My mom is unemployed (I'm one of 3)so I need to work and study and I may as well get some experience while I'm knocking out any pre-reqs that come up.
