How will a marijuana possession ticket affect me as a student and nurse?

I am currently a nursing student in Wisconsin.  I am begining my second semester and was just informed that I was rejected from attending my clinical classes at the hospital because of a possession of marijuana ticket on my record from ten years ago.  I was 17, young and dumb, it was a small amount and this is the only trouble I have ever been in.  It was reduced from a misdemeanor to a ticket.  This is very upseting to me, I do not want this to define who I am.  I am a responsible, hard working adult and I have worked hard to get to this part in my student career.  I am waiting to hear if someone else will take me.

I was hoping I could get some advice from nurses out there.  If I can get through school how difficult might it be for me to get a job?  Is this the wrong career for me?  This is apparently a new policy for them, should I expect that other health care companies will follow suit making it increasingly difficult for me as a student nurse and graduate nurse?

I would sincerely appreciate any responses.

Thank you

Hiya Jeny, that was so long ago and so insignificant I would get the papper work and get it expunged from your record.. You can have that done if that's the only thing you've been in trouble for.. The work site won't give you any problems if you be truthful to them..Best of luck to you..Keep me posted...Hugs, Teresa

Dear JENY 0115,

I'm with Teresah-need to look into getting your record cleared!!!!! As you said in your post, you were young, and now are a responsible hardworking adult-BONs look @ individual circumstances!!!!! In order to get your license, your record will need to be expunged!!!! As Teresah said, if this is the only thing on your record there would be no other problems!!!!!

I don't see where having this one misdeameanor will define you as a student or a nurse-take my word for it, as long as your honest about it,there is no problem!!!!! Let us know how everything goes, and remember the only dumb question is the one not asked!!!!!

Hope my 2 cents helps!!!!! GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My name is Shonna or 09157238!!!!!!!!!!!
