Iam a newbie here  and obviously 'considerng Nursing' career. Iam reading all morning here and iam so glad to have found  this site coz its helping me a lot to understand the pros and cons of Nursing career as well as giving me insights and pointers from the nurses themselves.... from the getting into the school and their actual work itself. So much information......

anyway, i have a BS in Psychology (and used this degree in HR/ office setting outside the US)  and being new in this country.... i havent been lucky to apply the same career path so i had resorted to CNA job for a  year now which strongly gave me insights as well on what career path i should be pursuing further.... looking into the next step now...

this is why iam here. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experiences and advice for novice like us.

I will continue to read and learn from u.

by the way, the AGE topic is interesting because iam 38 (not so young) and contemplating new career and going back to school.

kudos to all

You should already have a pretty good head start if you have a BS in Psych.  Much of it should transfer, but check with the school for details.

I'm not as old as Teresa (but close).   [Hi Teresa --  ]

Do not worry about age, just ambition.

Welcome to Nursing Link.

Thank u Dr. Tom

Yes, am over the age thing .. coz  i went back to college at 26 and pursue my psychology after falling short of finances when i first entered into college @ 17 yo. Started all over again to earn my current degree. Just trying to see how well i fare anymore when it comes to math and science so that i wish to skip the prerequisites anymore. Going to check with the counsellor soon.

keep them coming....

hold on.... lol! .. is this considered "interview" already? i mean for sure its going to be Q&A scenario but ... am considering it more as a discussion of and/or career advice stage but not the dreaded interview as basis of admittance or passing one of the school requirements. i want to prepare the interview, if any...  i thought id take it easy on this.... what do u think?

thank u

Hiya, when you are being interviewed, when a question is asked, think a second before you answer.. Stay calm, do not figit, keep good eye contact, but don't brag... I hope this helps... Hugs,Teresa

I too am a little nervous about the interview process. My GPA is 3.6 now (used to have 4.0) and there are other ppl with GPA's higher than mine that did not make it into the program. I work in the ER as a scribe now, so i get to see everything first hand. (the docs i work with even let me participate in the physical exams, reading labs and radiology. I have even done sutures before). I hope that al this gives me a leg up since my GPA is not as high, but I am so afraid that my passion for nursing will come off as boasting, or that they think im just not good enough!
