Is a Gram Stain Study the same as a C&S Study?

Thank you for any assistance.

C&S

Culture & sensitivity  A set of tests performed on a clinical specimen, where isolation of a potentially

pathogenic bacterium is followed by antibiotic susceptibility testing

The Gram stains Identify the bacterium if it may be positive or negative and thus using the correct antibiodics

They usually work together and are similar but not exact.. I hope this helps you out.

(Boy I sure hope I remembered My chemistry correctly)

Dear MAGGIEF102,

Teresah is correct-C&S deals with bacterial sensitivity to certain antibiotics there exposed to!!!!! Culture suspected bacteria onto petri dishes then introduce certain antibiotics to the organism!!!!! Gram staining is used in Microbiology-use it to identify certain bacteria-don't remember the process!!!!!! I hope my 2 cents helps, GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
