Posted over 5 years ago I have had it up to here (points to top of her head) with people and thier whining and complaining about the Healthcare system . People LOVE to talk ( or in this case type) about all of thier many issues. But, when it comes to DOING something....most put on the breaks. They think...I am ONE person out of Billions...How could I possibly change things? Well, If all of us who are or have said this actually DID something...we would see some change. My opinion , based on what I have seen and heard, is that the Healthcare system has been in big trouble for many years now. We see rising costs and people who cannot afford the BASIC care that they need . I see rising illnesses....most preventable. Overweight persons , for instance. I see diabetes and Heart Disease and a nuimber of things that can be solved by better diet, sleep, and exersize. I also see the devices and gadgets meant to give us comfort and ease of life doing the opposite in the long run. What I mean is.... all these computers, cell phones t vs, cd players and yes...cars......are increasing the amount of sedentary behavior. Sedentary behavior, fast food eating, and little sleep are a recipe for ill health. We ( including me) have GOT to do something before its too late. WE have to get up , get moving, and stop eating processed and fried crap. I have been doing just that and have seen a change in mood ( I was clinically depressed), and energy ( I had the energy of a slug in winter). I feel great and, knock on wood, I am inproving daily. I used to go to the DR at lease 3 times monthly. I havent been back in 2 months. I am just saying... If we all go and do this... think what it might do for our healthcare system? |

Thanks for the encouragement! anyone who views this...speak up and be heard... you dont have to agree. I like constructive critisizm. :) |

| Posted about 5 years ago LOL RNdude.... I hear ya...that pesky carpal tunnel syndromes a killer! If you decide to come back after a snack and a snooze to give your two cents worth.... I don't bite. :) I'm still biking and walking and eating healthy. Any Orange County , specifically Huntington Beach , people out there willing to be workout buddies? I hear rumors in all the magazines im reading that a buddy helps keep one on track. I really would love some company...gets lonely just me and my shadow. |

| Posted about 5 years ago I agree wholeheartedly! A problem with this health care system is that it does not focus on preventative health care, which is in a huge part a healthy diet and exercise. I exercise every day, I eat well, and am trying really hard to quit smoking. I am, however, uninsured for a few months and I frequently worry that I'll break my leg on the ice, get hit by a car, or come down with a freak illness. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Aren't bicycles the best, Owl? I have a really janky green 1970s ten-speed I found at the thrift store...it says "VOLKSCYCLE" on the side so her name is "The People's Bike." Great way to get around the city, if you ignore the jerks who think it's okay to park their SUVs in the bike lane. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Bicycles and your own two feet ROCK! TY Margaritka. I hear you.. I get people who honk at you to let you know they are behind you...People who like to park in the bike lanes... people who see you ...yet they try to drive faster to make sure they are first. Never mind that there is a mandatory stop sign or that a bicycle is actually concidered a vehicle of sorts. But the main thing is not the other people... its the pure rush of energy you get when you bike or walk. I find it makes me more alert...in a better mood ... and just makes me feel good. Keep on bikeing and hiking , Margaritka. and thankyou for your 2 cents. :) |
