Nursing school is just so out of reach for me right now. Can anyone tell me something I could do (maybe online) to make good money in the interim until I can go to school full time. I have to get out of what I've been doing all my life. Maybe medical billing & coding, etc. I need to find something in high demand and something I can earn a good living. This might also get me into a hospital and I could get help going to nursing school. I am desperate for your advice!

I don't know what you would classify as "good money," so my input may not be helpful to you. You could take a CNA course, and get a job in a hospital or nursing home. Most health care facilities are willing to reimburse employees who are going to nursing school in the hope they will stay after graduation. Some give scholarships or grants that you repay with 1-2 years of employment after graduation.

Medical billing and coding has different educational requirements by state, but if you worked from a hospital you would be eligible for similar benefits. I don't know how long it takes to train as one. I'd be wary of online programs of any sort: make sure a potential employer will accept them--by contacting the employer. Don't trust the school.

You could also try training as an EMT or Paramedic. EMT training is inexpensive, and lasts about 8 weeks. Then you can apply for a job with a fire company or a private ambulance service. Paramedic training takes a bit longer but not as long as nursing school. If you live in a big city, local EMS may subsidize the cost.

really try CNA, most places pay for this course and you get some experience in nursing for sure. Nursing homes pay usually more than hospitals to start out. It wil be a good foundation for continuing to becoming a nurse.

You would be more apt to make good money with medical billing and coding then you would as a CNA
