i have a friend that i believe has MRSA. she has been to the ER a few times; they lance it drain it, and tell her it is an infected hair folical. my son has MRSA and has been a carrier for 15months that i know of. i believe she has MRSA because of the physical characturistics and how painful she says it is. she has one that she has had for at least 1 1/2 months, it wont heal. there was another that i saw personally, she went to the ER, they lanced it and coverd it, the next day she changed the bandage and you could see straight into it to the core. i talked her into pulling it out and it was huge! and green. she had a whole from the core for about 2 weeks. she acts like this is no big deal and i am very worried. what can i do to convince her that this is serious? she has also not requested a culture. please help .

I know that many people don't want to hear what others have to say, particularly when there is clearly something medical going on with them, but it sounds like your friend needs help. If that was my friend, I would give her the chance to talk about what was going on. I would also let her know how truly concerned for her well-being I am. Most importantly, I would offer to go with her to an appointment, or even perhaps help to find a medical professional that she would be most trusting of and assure her that, if this condition is treated properly, things will be ok:) It sounds like, because you are dealing with MRSA in your family, you would be a great means of support for her. Best of luck with this one.
