My 6 month old had his shot appt yesterday. He normally gets his shots from an RN but this time it was a CMA.. first question... are they suppose to give shots and second she made me sooooooooo mad becasue they normally give the shots real fast ... but not her

and with the last shot i think she hit a vein because my son was bleeding alot. so someone please tell me if they are suppose to administer shots.

Thanks.

They can administer shots if the MD that employs them allows it and had trained them. As for the vein thing, she should has aspirated prior to the shot. If she did and there was no return, then it could have just been from your baby's leg being too warm, his muscle was tense during the shot, or she could have gone through a vein. If she by accident did inject into the vein, fortunately with vaccines it is not harmful and your baby will have no lasting effects from it. You might need to ask for a certain nurse for the next set of shots if you are uncomfortable with this person.
