I had never heard of Flicker Illness and went searching on the net to find out what it is. I'm not a flight nurse, but I love learning new things. I am photosensitive, so hopefully I'll never have to be life flighted anywhere and if I do, hope it's after dark.

a term coined by researchers at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York to describe extremely unpleasant symptoms ranging from the dizziness, vertigo and nausea associated with motion sickness, to the seizures of photosensitive epilepsy.
The journal Prehospital Emergency Care suggests that light streaming through whirling helicopter rotor blades during medical air transport can cause symptoms ranging from nausea to full-blown seizures in a very small number of patients. Basically it sounds like a photosensitive enduced epilepsy. below is the link to where I found most of the information

There is also something called flicker vertigo. When the light is just right going through the blades it can get anyone. Fortunately it doesn't lead to seizures, but can wipe you out in a hurry. Will have to go see if I can find anything else about it.

Has anyone got a chance to watch the Discovery Channel? The HUMAN BODY: Pushing the Limits. Last night they talked about the brain...and something similar to this was mentioned. Anyhow, you can check it out more on the website http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/human-body/human-body.html It's absolutely fascinating!

Kendbeef...I think they are amazing. The graphics totally freak me out. One minute you are looking at a human and then... boom, they are unmasked to muscle and bones. Excellent program. If anyone wants to read more about it, you can go to http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/human-body/human-body.html
