Posted almost 6 years ago Are you guys noticing that more and more patients are being sent past the PACU straight for the ICU? What does everyone think about this both in terms of the repercussions for the patients and the nursing staff? |

| Posted over 5 years ago Actually I've noticed far less patients being sent straight to the ICU then there used to be, particularly in trauma centers. Personally I think patients who are going to ICU post operatively should go directly to the ICU on a ventilator rather than stopping off in the PACU. Why? Continuity of care. |

| Posted over 5 years ago At our hospital if a patient is going to the ICU, the PACU will not accept them unless dictated by anesthesia. |
